New Stuff

Many of you have been asking when we will have a new manual. It is now complete! The disk version is now available on the BBS to download. We are sending the manual to everyone with current mail maintenance for no charge. BBS maintenance subscribers may obtain the printed manual at our cost, which is $20 in the US, $30 in Canada, and $50 elsewhere. The cost includes shipping and handling.

Here is a listing of some of the new features that have been added in since the last update:

Laserjet III and 4 plotting now allows designation of line weights to simulate colors. This has proven very useful!

Trip Generation Type 2 has expanded normalizing options making it easier than ever to balance your trips by purpose. You can selectively balance internals, externals, or a group of your choosing.

Since the last newsletter, additional import and export options have been added to the menu. See section 4.4.

The ability to store and display street names on screen is included in the Spring 1993 update. The plotting of street names is still in progress--watch the BBS. Zone boundary display is also coming.

The Distribution and Assignment editors, or lovingly known as the .DNA editors, are now available for Gravity Model only, Full Featured Distribution and Assignment, and Assignment only options. Now that more of you are using them, we have added in more testing before you start your run.

All assignment and vine modules have a bug fix to the link sort routing used when storing vines. The bug was only important if you were saving vines and accessing them with your own programs. The bug fix will require you to update any vine files you may have saved for future use. Call if you have questions.

Land Use Graphics (2.7.8) can now display modal share impedance files--very useful for showing differences in accessibility by mode.

Watch the BBS for a beta test module to estimate/compute node capacities based upon critical movements and entering volume/capacity ratios!
