Nodes, Nodes, Nodes

The emphasis this issue is on intersections or, as we call them, nodes. Since TMODEL2 is one of the few traffic planning models which model nodes, we thought it would be good to review some of the issues and some of the capabilities. Most of us recognize that for urban modeling, delay usually occurs at or is caused by intersection operations. It seems important to include that notion in a mathematical model that hopes to model traffic. As you know, we have done this since the inception of TMODEL. Further, we have continually upgraded TMODEL2 in order to provide more capability and allow more flexibility.

The article "TMODEL2 Models Nodes" is a consolidation of these ideas. By reading it carefully and referring to appropriate sections of the user manual and readme documentation, you can achieve a thorough understanding of the TMODEL2 node modeling capabilities. It is worth the effort.

Practical applications of these tools range far and wide. We would like to pass along some of your applications. If you would care to write an article for this newsletter describing your experiences, please contact us.
