For those of you with the HP DesignJet 650C or compatible, TMODEL2 can provide superior plots in conjunction with the TIGER92 layer files. As mentioned in the previous newsletters, we offer the available layer files that can be displayed in the Network Graphic Editor or the Travel Land Use Viewer. These detailed graphic files can greatly enhance model graphics by providing an underlay of water boundaries, rail lines, roadways, census boundaries, and many others. The network graphic editor can display three layer files at once. In addition, the layer files can be combined easily to display numerous variations.
In plotting to the DesignJet 650C, be sure to use DJC.A, DJC.B, DJC.C, DJC.D, or DJC.E for the model number. The first three letters represent the model type, and the last character designates the ANSI paper size ( A represents an 82x11 inch paper, B an 11x17, etc.). This will automatically select the appropriate paper size coordinates. These model numbers may work for other equivalent color printers/plotters, but the device must support HPGL or HPGL2 and PCL5 printer language. We know of a user who has tested it with the HP 250C. Currently, TMODEL2 does not support the newer, inexpensive inkjet desktop printers unless they support PCL5. However, plot files (.plt) can be saved in TMODEL2 and then imported into several drawing software packages such as CorelDraw, AutoCad, etc. for plotting to an inkjet printer.
